September 25, 1999

Nine years ago today I married my man, my T-dawg, my hunk of burnin' lovin', my "T", my best friend. I loved my wedding day and weekend. I can remember Troy and I looking around the room at our rehearsal dinner and realizing that every single person that we held nearest & dearest were in one room at the same time all for US. It was amazing. (I better not talk about how Troy teared up on his toast at the rehearsal dinner ~ it's still a touchy, but oh so cute, subject!). Our wedding day was just perfect, too. Troy sent me red roses to my bridesmaid brunch that morning. I'll never forget that. It was so sweet & so telling of our future days ahead. I had the best day with my friends & family & getting ready...

I walked down the isle with my dad and never looked at anyone but Troy. My dad cried when he sat down with my mother after giving me away. I especially loved our wedding ceremony. My sisters were my matrons of honor & all of my friends were my bridesmaids and honor attendants...and Sweet Macy Girl was my junior bridesmaid and Travis our junior groomsman. Little Hunter and Logan (oh they were so little) were our ring bearers (although Logan chose not to participate! ha!). Troy's beautiful nieces lit the candles for us. Troy's best man's little girl, Spencer, was our precious flower girl. I just loved everything about the church, our music, our flowers, our friends, our minister, our family & my husband-to-be. All four of Troy's grandparents were there ~ how cool is that?!? My Aunt Kitty & Uncle Ron served as my 'grandparents'. To me, everything was perfect. My parents gave me my dream wedding. Now Troy has given me my dream marriage (MOST days anyway!!!).

One of my dear friends from high school named Lacy sang "How Could I Ask for More" and "Grow Old With Me". Another dear friend from high school named Jeremy sang "Shine on Us." We had a beautiful trumpeter, too. My wonderful youth minister performed the ceremony. I get a chill thinking of how I felt that day. It was all very sweet.

You'll notice my sisters, all of the Na Na's, Kelli G, and several other AMAZING friends...all with whom I am still incredibly close. I can't forget Troy's good buddies, too! They are all still the best of buds...hanging at the deer lease whenever they can! I can't believe our nieces and nephews in this photo...they have changed SO much in nine years!!!

My Family...

On our way to the Brazos Club...

...and arriving at the Brazos Club! The new Mrs. Pierce was very happy!!!

Our reception was so fun! "How Sweet It Is" by James Taylor was our first dance song. I was a bit overwhelmed with all of the people and I think we pretty much stayed on the dance floor for most of the night because of that! Our wedding video begins like such a sweet, simple, delicate wedding story...and then all of the sudden mid-reception, the video goes dark except for the disco ball and it turns into a wild, crazy dance party starring...my best girls!!! I love love loved it!!! I'll have to scan all of THOSE pictures for another day and post!

Then we had to leave...

In total L-O-V-E...and heading to Dallas in our limo!!!

I would be amiss if I didn't add on our honeymoon to this post. We went to Antiqua. It was HANDS down (and PANTS down! ha!) the BEST, MOST WONDERFUL vacation I have EVER been on! My husband and I had a BALL!!! It was wild and crazy and F-U-N!!! I don't think we could ever top that trip!!!

The night we returned from our honeymoon to our first house...

And I would EVEN be WAY MORE AMISS if I didn't talk directly about my husband of NINE years...
I am a fan of the 'good old boy' type of guy. I can say without a doubt that I got the BEST one out there!!! I just always knew that I would need a manly man...and boy did I get one! He is a HUNK for starters...strong, dark, outdoorsy, healthy, muscular, sexy...all that I needed my man to be! He is funny...boy is he ever funny...in fact, he is the funniest person I know...his wit is out of this world...I laugh every single day at him and with him. He is smart...graduated top senior engineer at Texas A&M University...I'm sorry I just love to tell that b/c it is HUGE at that particular school...growing up, my dad always knew the answers to all of my questions (at least in my eyes) and now it is Troy who knows all the answers I need...he's especially smart at math & science...and I am NOT!...I love his deep intelligence about all things. He is affectionate...this man likes to hug, kiss and well, you know the rest...his passion is like crazy WOW!...he makes me feel like I am the sexiest woman in the world (which, trust me, I know I'm NOT AT ALL...but with him, I feel that way). He is protective...I have no fears when I am with him...I know he would stick up for me and protect me through anything and everything. He is handy...he can fix anything ~ my computer, household stuff, my phone after I've dropped it twenty times, my car, the lawn mower, Walker's Gator, you name it and he'll work until it's fixed. He is generous...he'll get me close to everything I want (within reason!)...he'll stop at the grocery store anytime I ask him...I know he'd go to the ends of the earth for me. He is sweet...he calls me all day long...he loves to surprise me with cards & flowers...and he teaches Walker to do the same ...he brushes my hair when he reeeeeally wants something. He is caring...he takes the absolute best care of his grandparents, his parents and my parents...he'll do anything for his family AND my family. He is all-boy...he loves to hunt, be shirtless, throw the football, mow the grass, work on camouflage trailers (that I despise!), play poker and watch sports. He is an amazing friend to many...he helps people move a lot (five times for my sister!)...he fixes things for his friends...and he's always there for his buddies. He is CRAZY...he has got dance moves like you wouldn't believe (we pray Hadlee got his moves, not mine!)...he will do insane things for Hoodie laughs...and he can talk just like Barney. He is happy...he loves his wife, his kids, his friends, his family, his coworkers...and he does not take anyone for granted. He is an amazing daddy...Walker and he look so much alike and they are buddies...Hadlee is his princess and he thinks he is her future prom date...he'll do (DOES) anything and everything for his children. He is an incredible husband...just see all of the above.

Troy...your wit, intelligence, humor, passion, sexiness, and love astound me. YAME. Our nine years of marriage have not always been perfect (of course), but they have been wonderful and that far outweighs any of our 'tough' times (like when you get on my nerves or when you get me an awesome gift and I tell you it's the wrong color! and the serious times, too). I love you with all of my heart and soul. No man, other than my dad, has loved and cared for me like YOU do. Thank you for showing me how much you love me every single day we are together. I thank God for you. I still look at you all the time and think how mo-freakin' cute and sexy you are!!! You're still the one...in every way possible.

Happy Anniversary!
Love, Wifey

By the way, tonight when you open your card and check to see if it was an expensive one (Cards for him are the one thing he likes me to spend a lot of money on!!! Don't worry I got you a $5.99 one.) and then when you quickly open it up to see if I wrote something long and mushy to you (what you always do), please just pull out your computer and read this!!!

I felt the need to make a rare appearance on your blogspot….

WOW… I feel like I just flashed back to our rehearsal dinner (Tea went down the old windpipe, again!).

Mindy,
If I can ever be HALF the Husband/Daddy you and our kids DESERVE, I would feel I have succeeded in life. I’ve never met a more dedicated wife, mother, teacher, friend, and person in my life. You are my backbone and my rock, you make me strive to be a better person (We know I can always improve there!). Your strengths compliment my weaknesses; your patience, your understanding, your giving, your kindness … (I could go on). Whenever I have time to myself, I just Thank God for making YOU for ME. You exceed every expectation I ever had of a wife and mother.
