January 2011 at Texas Neuro

Travis spent New Year's Eve
with his beautiful mama and his
beloved dog Reese!:)
January meant we were six months
post accident.  Better yet,
six months into a miracle...
Sweet sisters who didn't even know
Travis before the accident...
But yet they were drawn to Travis
and smitten with him, too!  ;)
They are Terri's daughters...Terri is a friend
of Lynna's from high school.
They really had not been
in touch for years, but Terri has been
an AMAZING friend since the accident.
To this day, she still sends Lynna a Bible
verse every morning.  She is a TRUE
prayer warrior and we love her dearly!!!
It's unbelievable to see these pictures
of Travis in physical therapy.  He was still
sleeping a lot of the time, not responsive at times,
& trying to learn to communicate
to us on a letter board.
Yet, he was working so incredibly
hard to re-learn EVERYTHING...such as the
obvious like walking but also things
you would NEVER dream of having
to learn all over again.
One of my students drew this on my board...
I don't plan to ever erase it!  :)
An absolute and total
miracle in the making......
Brothers:)
That is the bivalve on his right arm.
When you have a TBI, your arms and legs
can curl up.  Trav's brain wanted this arm
to stay curled up against his body.
Travis had to wear this bivalve a certain
number of hours a day.  It.was.HORRIBLE.
He HATED it.  :(((
I'm assuming that it was very painful
since his brain was trying to tell that
arm to stay curled up.
It was so sad how much Travis hated it.  :(
Lynna is so devoted to Travis
and very involved in his therapies.
Poor Hunter B!  ;)
Those Texas Neuro days were LONG
and DIFFICULT, but we met some
really amazing people who truly
took an interest in our Travis.
We will always be grateful for those people...
Reading (we think!)...
Ready for bed...covered up by his
Superman Snuggie (Thank you, Reeds!)...
Wearing the new pajamas that
the kids and I got for him:)
Justin
Trish!  One of Lynna's dearest friends from
forever.  She's like another mama to Trav!
I love this pic...these two sure are troopers!;)
Visiting in mid-January...
playing UNO and all losing to Hadlee!!!
We love the miracle known as Garrett!!!
My kids LOVE him, too!
Sweet girls who came to visit...
Maylan, Alyssa, Ashley & Lindsay
We had such a fun time with Travis & these
girls that weekend.  We even had a slumber party
in the trailer!  So thankful for them!!!  :)
Never a dull moment;)
I love you, Travis. So very, VERY much!
Travis looks so great in these pictures!
This is one of my favorites...
Sleeping in the trailer.  The kids thought
that place was the coolest.  Walker heard
someone say that the trailer "slept nine".
On our first stay in it, Walker wanted to know
how there were nine rooms?!?
Travis was not feeling great the next morning...
they were having major issues with
his feeding tube.  :(
He never complained...God bless his heart.
Later that evening Travis had to be
taken to a hospital in Austin
because of the feeding tube issue.
His nurse at this random hospital was George
who is also an EMT in Waco (on the side).
George very quickly realized that he had
been one of the EMT's on the scene
of Trav's accident.  This was such a
GOD thing!!!  Again and again!
Travis had Lynna and Scott
cracking up at the hospital!
Such a STUD!!!
Our miracle!
My long lost best friend ordered
shirts for her precious family...
to support Travis in the Big City!:)
Means so, so much.  Love you, Shannon!
At times we have been hesitant to show
pictures of Travis because he LOOKS
so good and we didn't want people
to stop praying for him.
Moving his arms, his legs, any part of his
body is a challenge.  Trying to
figure out what he is trying to tell us
is so frustrating.  Watching him beg
for something to drink is torture.
Leaving him at night is gut-wrenching.
Seeing our 22 year old Travis
in ways that we have just isn't right.
Not knowing what his ultimate outcome
will be...only knowing that he will
never be the same...
truly makes my heart want to burst.
A traumatic brain injury is awful.  :(((
Thank God for Trav's will to live and
persevere through all of this
AND for HUNTER B...
the hunchback who makes us LAUGH!!!
Bless Trav's heart...
he's spent his lifetime having to
look at his mama's shoes & clothes!;)
Gorgeous girlfriends of Travis...
HE is SO loved!!!
Garrett and his pretty mom!
She is the one person who can really
tell Lynna that she "understands"...
thank God for the Thompsons.
Hanging out at Texas Neuro...
This would be Lynna at Wal-Mart in Austin
at midnight making new friends...;)))
Lynna's friend from high school, Mike, and his
incredible family.  Mike has been a PRAYER
WARRIOR and a constant source
of encouragement and support.
People are amazing.
Mollie, Britney & Cody
a January afternoon in Austin...
Alyssa K & Travis...
They have been best friends
for such a long time...
This was another patient at Texas
Neuro.  He was so encouraging and
often checked on Travis for us.
I wish we knew how he was doing now.  :(
Look who made it into the new
Texas Neuro brochure?!?
 Our FAMOUS guy!!!
There is only one way to explain the
miracle of Travis...and that is by the
POWER OF PRAYER!!!
Prayer is baring your soul to the One
who loved you before you
even knew of Him and letting
Him speak to your heart.
~ Stormie Omartian

We love you, Travis!!!

We will never, ever stop
praying for your healing.
