I Love to Hold His Hand

After Walker got those awards, it really made
me reflect on how far this boy has come!
He never wanted me to sit and work with him
on writing his name or letters or anything.
It was like one day in Pre-K it just clicked,
and he started to color well and write his letters!
Walker has always loved reading books
(or having books read to him).
Now, he is trying to read the books!
He even taught Hadlee an entire
No David book...it's hilarious to hear her read it!!!
And his behavior...well, let me just say that when we
put Walker in pre-k when he was four,
we were certain that 'color changes' would be a new,
major part of our lives.
Hasn't been the case...not in the least bit AT ALL!!!
[FYI, I'm knocking on wood right now.]
(I'll save his behavior at home for another day...
let's keep this post positive! ha!).
I'm a demonstrative person (in case you haven't noticed!)...
I think my family, my friends, my friends' kids, my hoodies,
my blogger friends, my everything are the GREATEST.
And no doubt I think my kids are the ABSOLUTE GREATEST!
So indulge me, while I remember these moments in time!

Most of the time, Walker takes great pride in his work...

This was a wooden car to paint that the Oakleys gave Walker for his birthday. He LOVED it...

He really worked so hard and it turned
out AWESOME! Thanks, Abigail & Brady!!!

One day a couple of weeks after school started,
Walker came home telling me he needed to take a picture of
himself to art class. It was never written down
in his folder or anything, but I still sent one.
Come to find out the art teacher suggested
they bring a picture of themselves so they could
do a self-portrait...I would have given him the art award, too! HA HA!

Such a funny kid...he's all into school;
but also his cars, trains, Ben10, soccer, snakes, etc.
And then LOOK what PaPa brings Walker from
Switzerland...yes, a SWISS KNIFE!
Walker was so proud of this...

When he first got it, he was so excited and he said, "I can't wait to use this!" We all just looked at him in horror of what he would say. He then continued..."TO CUT CAKE!"
After many lectures about this thing, it is now very well HIDDEN from Walker!!! It's a wonderful keepsake and when he's about sixteen, he might can use it at the deer lease with Daddy.

More than anything, even his good report card & his wonderful awards, I am proud that Walker loves his family, his friends, his activities and he loves to pray!

And oh that sweet heart of his; for instance, last night when I was reading his new cobra book to him, I read a part about cobras being deaf, Walker said, "Oh, poor cobras." My sweet, sweet boy...he evens feels bad for the deaf cobras (by the way, did you know that bit of info?).

You'll just have to forgive me for being so mushy lately. I'm not handling my babies growing up very well...especially since it looks like another little one isn't in our future.

Saturday Walker and I were walking side by side holding hands. It's been a while since we've 'held' hands. I was overtaken by how BIG his hands are (and for the record, his feet are HUGE!). I just treasured that moment holding his hand and wished that I could stop time.

My baby boy is growing up...way too fast.

Thankfully, I am loving the young boy he is becoming!

Awe, what a sweet post, but you're making me cry. Time passes so quickly and it's so hard to believe they grow up right in front of our eyes. One day they are just little ole things and the next, they are teenagers. I think Walker and Hadlee need a brother or sister. You just never know what is in God's plan. I will say a prayer for extra comfort and patience for you! Hang in there. Those sweet kiddos need you!!

Ya know what Mindy...I don't feel like I have to "indulge" you as I read about your wonderful boy! The fact that you LOVE your family, your friends, and your LIFE is one of the very things that I love about visiting your blog! I even told my hubby about your blog the other day! I told him how visiting your blog makes me happy and how it always seems like everything is just right in your world. In these crazy times when people take their kids for granted and are often abusive towards them, it is so refreshing to see a mommy just LOVE her babies. It's the way it's supposed to be! You are a great mommy and Walker and Hadlee are growing into wonderful kiddos because they know they are LOVED!

Oh Mindy, tears just roll down my face reading this. Walker is pure Love and Joy to us too. To get to see your family grow up I feel so lucky. You are an amazing mom, friend, hoodie, and Christian woman. Walker and Haddie are the way they are because of their wonderful parents! Hugs your way,

You are such a great Mommy!! I know exactly what you mean about time flying by! Brynne is our last baby and it makes that sooo hard to see her hit her milestones and to see the baby stages disapperaing! She will be 10 months on the 18th and this has been a hard few months for me. She is becoming more independent every day and would much rather play with Landon than sit by Mama's side! SO heartbreaking, but at the same time I am so proud of the relationship that Landon and Brynne have. I look forward to the coming stages...I just hope they come very slowly! Hang in there Mama!!

Such a special post..well, all of your posts are special, but it just melts my heart reading about your special boy. You are such a great mama and I love the relationship you have with your children. I know how you feel. I'm sad that there won't be another lil one in your future because I just LOVE your family, but how blessed are you to have a sweet girl AND a sweet boy.. the best of both worlds!!!

What a great post! Made me a bit nostalgic, though...one of my favorite memories of our youngest son, Bo, is washing his hands when he was a little guy. I'd prop him on my knee at the kitchen sink, and we'd let the warm water run and use lots of soap, make lots of bubbles, and then I'd take his chubby little hands in mine and rub the dirt away. NOW he's almost 18 yrs., 6' 4", 250 lbs., and wears a size 14 shoe! He's a senior in high school. Hubby and I are trying to prepare for "Empty Nest Syndrome." *sniff* :/

You have a beautiful family! I know you are such a proud mommy!
