First of all, let me just say that I am going out on a huge limb here...I took these pictures for myself and for Troy...never really considering that I'd put them on the blog (until I got home and realized how dang funny they are!!!).
Okay, so let me start from the beginning. I have a gap in between my two front teeth that braces back in 8th grade were not able to correct. So I had my teeth bonded to close the gap. Apparently bonding discolors (YELLOWS) as time goes by. It has really been apparent to me the last couple of years. To have the rebonding done which also requires whitening of the teeth was very expensive because previously insurance would not cover it. So because I HATE to go to the dentist (so much so that I'd rather go to the GYNO than the dentist anyday) and I hated to spend five hundred bucks to fix a little spot of yellow on my teeth, I've just been putting it off. I am vain (I can't deny it) so it has really driven me crazy. Troy claims that nobody notices it, but I know that's not true (I asked my sister and she told me the truth ~ she's vain like me though). Right before school started, Walker drew and colored a picture of me. As I looked at the picture, I asked Walker what that was in my mouth. He said, in a matter of fact way, "that's the yellow on your two front teeth." THAT WAS IT, I booked the appointment & I've been so excited ever since.
Here I am about to walk into Dr. Starr's office (the photo doesn't really do my YELLOW spot justice, but you've all seen it and you know it)...
So ya didn't believe me about the GAP in between my two front teeth. Proof Positive...I have one. This picture taken by my doctor - he was dying - is horrifying, I know! Keep in mind they had given me THREE shots in my mouth to numb it (and I cried...how did I even go through child birth - TWICE - in fact!?!).
THE BIG REVEAL...
Yep this is me back in the car, numbed mouth and all, taking my self portraits!!! I crack myself UP! I tried to call my girl to do a lip wax while my entire lower face was numb, but she wasn't available!!!
There you have it...Trendy Mindy...unedited, but so happy with her new smile!!!

I am CRACKING up over here! I am at a loss for words. You are soooo dang funny Girl! OH MY!!!! hahaha.
They look great and I would have never known you had that gap! I have a teeny hole in one of my top front teeth that I inherited that my dentist bonded for me about 6 months ago. I got all my teeth whitened at the same time! I was so scared and like you, would much rather go to the gyno. Turned out fine afterall.. I survived. You look great!
You are so crazy! Funny how the little things bug us huh? I think you looked beautiful before! Yay for you for your beautiful new smile (:
I have always loved you, yellow spot and all...but nothin's wrong with a little tweaking now and then. Remember when Brandy told me I needed to whiten my teeth!? I love your self portraits! Can't wait to see the "new you" in person!
xoxo
I am crackin' up over heah! Giiirl you are fuuuunnyyyy! Makes a girl feel good to know she's not the only one! Don't forget about issue with sunglasses, because my ears are crooked! And I won't even get started about MY teeth!
OK you are a nut:) You look beautiful, but those pictures are hilarious!!! Nice smile:)
I am the daughter of a dentist, and unfortunately, a major consumer of dental services, and I am dying laughing!!! Love the post!
First of all - PERFECT SONG!! That is my favorite James Taylor song in the world. You are too stinkin funny!!
Can you be any funnier?! I swear, you make me smile and I have always thought your smile was perfect. Now it's even more perfect. Way to raise that bar!! You are a hoot - and you look great. I dunno though - that space between your teeth made you look like Madonna!
You are NOT going to believe this, but I had the SAME situation! Braces in the 8th grade, space between two front teeth left behind, bonded over 18 years ago and the major need to redo due to staining aka YELLOW! I did mine right after Bowie was born and it was the best thing I have ever done. FYI, tell your dentist to help a sista out and next time have him code it as a "white filling" and insurance will pay. It's not a crime-it is a filling afterall :). He just has to enter a different diag. code. I had over $1500 in bonding done and I only paid a wee little bit. Your teeth look fab and your white smile glam. Thank you for your heartfelt prayers and your well wishes for Mona. She said, that Mindy from your blog sure is sweet! I said, I know and her family is precious too!
I love it! And from one vain woman to another - I love how forthright you are! Say it loud and say it proud and I'll say it with ya! "WE ARE VAIN!"
Came across your blog from someone else's site...just can't remember whose it was! Anyway, I just had to comment on this post. I, too, hate...absolutely HATE to go to the dentist. I have this issue with people getting "in my face," or touching my face, etc. I have said many times that, like you, I would rather go to the GYNO than the dentist, because at least the GYNO is down at the other end!!! I can totally relate.
By the way, your new smile looks great!
