After Walker got those awards, it really made
me reflect on how far this boy has come!
He never wanted me to sit and work with him
on writing his name or letters or anything.
It was like one day in Pre-K it just clicked,
and he started to color well and write his letters!
Walker has always loved reading books
(or having books read to him).
Now, he is trying to read the books!
He even taught Hadlee an entire
No David book...it's hilarious to hear her read it!!!
And his behavior...well, let me just say that when we
put Walker in pre-k when he was four,
we were certain that 'color changes' would be a new,
major part of our lives.
Hasn't been the case...not in the least bit AT ALL!!!
[FYI, I'm knocking on wood right now.]
(I'll save his behavior at home for another day...
let's keep this post positive! ha!).
I'm a demonstrative person (in case you haven't noticed!)...
I think my family, my friends, my friends' kids, my hoodies,
my blogger friends, my everything are the GREATEST.
And no doubt I think my kids are the ABSOLUTE GREATEST!
So indulge me, while I remember these moments in time!
Most of the time, Walker takes great pride in his work...

This was a wooden car to paint that the Oakleys gave Walker for his birthday. He LOVED it...

He really worked so hard and it turned
out AWESOME! Thanks, Abigail & Brady!!!

One day a couple of weeks after school started,
Walker came home telling me he needed to take a picture of
himself to art class. It was never written down
in his folder or anything, but I still sent one.
Come to find out the art teacher suggested
they bring a picture of themselves so they could
do a self-portrait...

I would have given him the art award, too! HA HA!
Such a funny kid...he's all into school;
but also his cars, trains, Ben10, soccer, snakes, etc.
And then LOOK what PaPa brings Walker from
Switzerland...yes, a SWISS KNIFE!
Walker was so proud of this...

When he first got it, he was so excited and he said, "I can't wait to use this!" We all just looked at him in horror of what he would say. He then continued..."TO CUT CAKE!"
After many lectures about this thing, it is now very well HIDDEN from Walker!!! It's a wonderful keepsake and when he's about sixteen, he might can use it at the deer lease with Daddy.
More than anything, even his good report card & his wonderful awards, I am proud that Walker loves his family, his friends, his activities and he loves to pray!
And oh that sweet heart of his; for instance, last night when I was reading his new cobra book to him, I read a part about cobras being deaf, Walker said, "Oh, poor cobras." My sweet, sweet boy...he evens feels bad for the deaf cobras (by the way, did you know that bit of info?).
You'll just have to forgive me for being so mushy lately. I'm not handling my babies growing up very well...especially since it looks like another little one isn't in our future.
Saturday Walker and I were walking side by side holding hands. It's been a while since we've 'held' hands. I was overtaken by how BIG his hands are (and for the record, his feet are HUGE!). I just treasured that moment holding his hand and wished that I could stop time.
My baby boy is growing up...way too fast.
Thankfully, I am loving the young boy he is becoming!
