The Gunship and The Balance Beam

It truly couldn't be more fitting that I am posting
this on the day we said our official
good-bye to Louis. Yesterday and today,
I attended services for a man
who lived his life well.
There were more than a thousand people who
came to his visitation last night. It was
unbelievable. Such a testament to this man.
Today the priest said that Louis was in Heaven
hearing the Lord say "job well done."
I couldn't agree more.

Troy and I left today both wanting to live
life more fully, take less for granted, and
kiss each other more often!
(Like we saw Louis & Carla doing in so many pictures!)

Had to share one more treasured picture
of Louis...at the hospital when Walker was born.

Louis and Luther, (our other dear friend and LV's partner), just happened to be in the process of building a new detached garage/office for Troy. He would have absolutely LOVED seeing what the kids were doing to his building site on Saturday. I can just picture the smile that it would have brought to his face...

There is nothing like a good construction site to keep your kids happy and entertained for three hours on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon!!!

This would be Walker on his "GUNSHIP"...

And Hadlee on her BALANCE BEAM!!!
Walker was in a world of his own
while aboard the gunship...These two were so content out there
playing on the stage, in the dirt,
and creating a BOARD SALE!!!Boards ranged in price from $1 to $24.
There was even a special one with nails
that went for $100.Then it was time to bring out the war paint...This is SO LIKE TROY...
the engineer concentrating so hard!!!
Plus wearing Daddy's old Ironman! This is SO LIKE MOMMY...
taking a break!!!Walker's sign was very Survivor like...
...but I'd never vote him off our island.
Especially when he makes a sign like this
with Mommy, Daddy, Hadlee McCall
and Baby Boy's names on it!!!

This post is dedicated to Louis! Thanks for laying such a great foundation...not for our new addition but for your family and the many many friends in your life. We will miss you.

Well I know it's time for the grieving process to end and the healing process to begin. I know I've told you this, but being a pallbearer to this man was one of the greatest honors of my life. I couldn't help but think there must be so many more people that were more worthy than I. But, I will take it as a challenge. You know, that's what great people like Louis do. They CHALLENGE you by example to live, love and enjoy life to the fullest in a way that's honorable to your family, friends and GOD. That's what I take from Louis.

Thank you Louis for being all that you were. I'm gonna miss you!

And thank you Mindy for being my rock!

Tears! Reading this post and Troy's comment. We drove by the funeral home and saw the line out the door for Louis. Awesome. What a legacy he left behind!!!!
Your new addition construction will be so great when it's finished. I had no idea you were doing that for sweet #3. I love the imagination in your children-so smart. And so fitting to their personalities! I hope you have a great weekend.

Okay...between this post and Troy's comment, I've got tears streaming down my face.

What a legacy Louis has left behind! We all need more people like him in our lives. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends - you and Troy included.

Hugs,
Beth
