Big Girl Bed

Let me just say this first...
yes, Hadlee is almost 3 1/2 years old
and she has still been
sleeping in and loving her baby bed.
There I said it!!!
I've done many things differently with
my sweet baby girl. I truly always thought
she would be my last baby...
so I rocked her to sleep, laid with her, etc.
Whereas with Walker he was Baby Wised
all the way!!! And I couldn't wait to
get him in his big boy bed and room at
age two! Hadlee...not.so.much!
Out of nowhere the other night,
she informs me that she wants to sleep
in her BIG GIRL BED...
Come to find out, Troy had overheard Walker
giving her a good 'talkin to'
about sleeping in her big girl bed.
She took his advice & I was blown away!
If I didn't have Baby Boy Love on the way
to put in the baby bed,
I would have FREAKED OUT!!!
And here you have my sweet, precious
Princess sleeping in her Big Girl Bed...
All the while, Big Brother is right
across the hall snoozing away himself...
I love looking at, touching, and praying over
my sleeping babies...Just in case you are wondering, below
is how the Big Girl Bed looked the next morning.
It was about five in the morning,
when I heard, "I want mommy." This is
signature Haddie...not really crying...just
pleading..."I need mommy."
I can't resist that! Plus our sweet little bit
of Heaven is a CUDDLE BUG OF LOVE!!!Voila the Big Girl herself......in an adorable outfit from Aunt Lynna
posing on her infamous Big Girl Bed!

I sure do love my Big Girl!!!

Night Two Update.......... she slept all night in her big girl bed until six am when we heard her over the monitor saying, not crying, "I didn't want to be in my big girl bed!" The few nights since then have been similar, and she tells anyone who will listen that she does NOT like her Big Girl Bed AT ALL!!!

Bonne Nuit, Baby Girl!

P.S. ~ Sleeping Beauty slept the entire night last night in her Big Girl bed. I even had to wake her up this morning. When I told her how proud I was, she was quick to let me know that she still doesn't like her Big Birl bed!!!

  1. No matter how big she gets, she will always be your baby girl....(and Walker will always be your baby boy!) :-)

Give her a few days, and she'll get the hang of that bed!

What a precious post, Mindy...I got teary-eyed while I read it!

  2. Ha! I have heard her say I DON"T WANNA IT! Sweetpea....RoRo is so proud of her in her big girl bed.

The night we switched Landry to his big boy bed I think I cried more that he did. That is how he ended up in Luke's bunkbed the past couple of years.

This is sweet as can be! I love that little pink room of Haddie cakes.

  3. OH my Haddie Girl! At least she has been in her crib and NOT in the bed with you! Bowen wanted her BIG girl bed at 18 months and we gave it to her. Do you think she's in her big girl bed now? Noooo. Had I known then, what I know now, it would have never ever happened that way! So sweet that she took her time. She realizes that baby love is on the way and he'll need a place to sleep.......she's already assuming her big sister role and I love it! She is a bundle of love and that room is too cute!

  4. Yeah for Hadlee! Well, at least she is trying!! She NEEDS to be the big sister and leave a place for baby Cosmo to sleep! Those pictures of Haddie Pie sleeping are so sweet and precious! I love her bedding, too! She will always be Mommy's sweet baby girl!

  5. Ellie and I were just lying here in OUR bed talking about our "new house" and whether she would like to sleep in her "big girl bed" or with mom and dad. You can probably imagine her answer. WITH MOM AND DAD. It was funny that I came over to your blog to see this post! Maybe someday, we too, can sleep alone. (Todd and I, that is!) Like you, I secretly love it! Mo

  7. This post reminds me of...me! LOL. Landon was in his big boy bed at 21months!! Brynne is almost 20 months now, and there is NO way she is even close to wanting to be out of her crib! Landon learned early how to climb out of the crib and he was potty training by 19 months so we HAD to get him into the Big Boy Bed, LOL. He made a simple, effortless transition. Brynne has been much more babied because I know she is my last ): She has never even tried to get out of her crib...never even thought about it! Girls and boys are SO different in so many cute and fun ways. I LOVE Haddie's Big Girl bed. You must be one proud, and a little sad, Mama (:

  8. Way to go Hadlee!! I am very proud of you big girl! Man on man these transitions are so hard on us mommies!!!!!! I love her big girl bedding and she looks so peaceful sleeping there in her bed. I also got a kick out of the fact that the Build-their-bear animals are cozy as well. Ryan and Ally's beds are STUFFED with all sorts of treasures-whatever works!!!

  9. She is such a big girl and don't you apologize one single time for soaking up every bit of her being a "little girl!" I plan to do that with Payton because I KNOW she is our last. I will rock her if she wants rocked, sleep with her if she wants slept with, etc. etc. These days are too too short!

  10. Maybe some cool new Fancy Nancy bedding from www.designerliving.com would give her a new reason to sleep in her big girl bed!!
